POST GRAD LIFE: Oh you haven’t heard? It sucks. Fresh out of a university you’re suppose to have employers begging you to join their company, right? False. This is real life …it does not happen like that.
Growing up I always knew I was going to go to college. Taking a year off before starting…
So relevant. I am 3 years post grad struggling to get hired as a CNA with a Bachelors degree in Nursing. Yes, I am a nursing graduate who is supposed to be a Registered Nurse, but I had to settle for the complete opposite of the spectrum because the Board of Registered Nursing in California is biased against foreign graduates. I was told to become a nurse because “there will always be job opportunities in Healthcare” and that “studying abroad is faster and cheaper”, but even with just a CNA license, I still can’t get hired. Why? Is it my lack of actual job experience? (I have 3 years of clinical experience doing what Registered Nurses do!) Are companies biased against foreign graduates too? I wish I knew. I guess I will have to settle for minimum wage for now.
